Chulakshi Ranathunga grew up in Colombo, demonstrating early athletic excellence as a national-level basketball player for Maliyadeva Girls' College. In 2014, her grace and charisma earned her the crown of Miss Sri Lanka, leading her to represent the nation at the prestigious Miss World final in ExCeL London.
Committed to mastering the craft of performance, she trained rigorously under renowned dramatist Kaushalya Fernando. She made her cinematic debut as the lead opposite Hemal Ranasinghe in Dedunu Akase (2017), which became an instant box-office hit.
Her dynamic range has spanned period epics such as Sunil Ariyaratne's Vijayaba Kollaya — where her portrayal of Hamidumma earned her the prestigious Sarasaviya Best Supporting Actress Award — to titular thriller roles in Mandara (2024) and contemporary crowd-pleasers like House Full (2025).
